Moose Lake Lodge, B.C. Location: Approximately 45 miles north of Anahim Lake, B.C. It is accessed only by air although you can get through by road in the winter. The Lodge is surrounded by meadows, timber, creek and mountains. It sits at the end of Moose Lake which stretches for about 5-6 miles. It is close to Tweedsmuir Park, in the wilderness of the Upper Blackwater, Upper Dean and Entiako Watersheds of B.C. This is about 300 miles north... more of Vancouver. Total Acres: 812 acres consisting of meadows and timber. Fishing: Excellent trout fishing on Moose Lake. Three generations of our family have fished this and had a fantastic time doing it. It is a great fish for even little grandkids-my 5 year old having the time of his life catching fish after fish. These trout fight like nothing I have seen in Washington or Oregon. To see these fish jump and dive is just incredible! There are numerous lakes to hike to or fly to. You will not be bombarded with a bunch of other people at these spots!! Also, you can float plane to world class salmon and steelhead fishing from the Lodge. The owners also have a separate fishing concession on the Dean River-lodge/cabins. Contact us for more info. Improvements: The Lodge is about 4,000 sq.ft. looking out over Moose Lake and the mountains. I have seen moose from the Lodge and it is not uncommon to have them very close there de- pending on the time of year. The spacious windows in front make it easy to sit by the fire and just look out. There are also 8 cabins about 400 sq.ft. They sleep from 2-4. All have propane, showers, and bathrooms. These buildings are all handcrafted log structures and very tight. Corrals , barns, sheds, and other outbuildings complete the infrastructure. Lodge Business: The Lodge is Orvis Endorsed and has a reputation that dates back 30 years. It is a proven business if one wants to go that path. Airstrip: The airstrip is 3600’ with good approaches. The largest plane they use on it is a Beechcraft 1900. Persons using commercial aircraft into Anahim Lake or Bella Coola are picked up and brought to the lodge by float plane. Hunting: A separate business can be purchased to go with the Lodge. It consists of large black bears, moose, and wolf hunts. Almost 100 moose have been taken in the last 5 years. They have a 95% success for moose for all the years in business. Our families have taken moose here and everything has been first class giving you a chance to really hunt and not just kill. Contact us for particulars. Equipment: A full complement of equipment for the Lodge is available. It includes horses, atvs, boats, phone systems, trucks, propane tanks, and other items too numerous to mention. On request we will make the list available. Uniqueness: This ranch in remote B.C. is really in a class by itself. It is not a Four Seasons but a rugged, beautiful, practical, turnkey operation. Everything is there for you to come in and enjoy yourself. The owners have done all of the hard work in getting this established.They are now selling this because the years have crept up on them. It is modern but keeps the old style log home integrity and home feeling. Historically, it is in this area that Richmond Hobson in his book Grass Beyond The Mountains created a ranch out of nothing.
