New Scent Strategies

The little spike acted like a teenager who'd found his father's stash of Playboys. It would sneak to the edge of the wheat field and poke its nose into the bush containing the drag I'd soaked in Code Blue Standing Estrous, the excitedly jump back and bound around the field for a few minutes. It repeated this act until it was too dark to see.

The little buck couldn't stay away from the scent. At one point it even took the drag in its mouth and tried to pry the drag out of the bush before letting go and bucking its way around the field again.

Just prior to getting into my stand I'd soaked a drag in Standing Estrous and made a trail from one side of the wheat field to the other. When the pair of does and the small buck intercepted the scent trail, the little guy locked up like a child with his hand caught in a cookie jar. Its nose immediately hit the ground and it followed the trail to the drag.

While no trophy bucks showed up that evening, the scents can help hunters take that buck-of-a-lifetime. The two most important aspects of scent are human odor and deer sexual scent/urines. Human odor must be eliminated. The deer sexual scents must be used in a natural manner that draws the buck within range.
