To the Northwest, McConnell's Mill State Park is home to Slippery Rock Creek Gorge, a National Natural Landmark where the steep cliffs are popular for rock climbing and rappelling. Lake Erie borders the state's northwest corner, where there's plenty of boating and off-shore fishing opportunities, plus the only surf beach in the Commonwealth at Presque Isle State Park.
