Hundreds of miles of ATV trails can be found throughout the state, including the Dead Horse Run ATV Trail and the Flambeau ATV Trail System. Fishing continues during the winter, where crappies, perch and walleye await just under the frozen surface. The Mississippi River travels along the state's western border, dotted with quaint river towns, and Lake Michigan also borders eastern Wisconsin. The Central Plains have unique sandstone formations like the Dells of the Wisconsin River.
