The famous Appalachian Trail begins at Springer Mountain and hardy hikers don't see the end until they reach Maine! Don't forget to stop at Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest peak at 4,784 feet. The Black Rock Mountain State Park has lakes for boating and fishing, camping spots, hiking trails, and areas for archery. At an altitude of 3,640 feet the park is often cooler than other Georgia parks.

The Blue Ridge Mountains region of Georgia also provides a perfect climate for growing wine grapes. In addition to visiting the wineries and vineyards in the area, the area offers many local shops, art galleries, as well as golf courses. The Georgia towns of Blairsville, Tiger, Helen, Dahlonega and Braselton offer a number of wineries, vineyards and spas to visit.
