South Central Region, KY
LandWatch lists thousands of farms, ranches and other rural acreage for sale in Kentucky's South Central region, including hunting land, cabins, recreational properties and land auctions. Based on recent LandWatch data, the South Central region of Kentucky ranks fourth in the state for its total amount of land currently for sale. Internal data from LandWatch records $860 million of rural land listings for sale in South Central region, an increase over last month in terms of overall dollar value. With thousands of properties and rural land for sale in the area, these land listings cover a combined 60,146 acres of land for sale. The average price of land and ranches for sale here is $204,434, which is on par with average prices here last month.

The South Central region of Kentucky borders Tennessee to the south. Larger cites in this region include Glasgow, Monticello, Somerset, Russellville, Franklin and Bowling Green, the third largest city in Kentucky. The region features Lake Cumberland, a 65, 500-acre reservoir spanning several counties, which provides electrical power and is a recreational destination. Tourism from Lake Cumberland is a large contributor to the local economy. Other attractions in the region include Cumberland Falls, Big South Fork National River Recreation Area, Dale Hollow Reservoir, Dale Hollow State Park, Green River and Mammoth Cave National Park. Western Kentucky University, Somerset Community College, Daymar College, Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College are located in this region.

Pulaski County is located in the northeastern part of the South Central Kentucky region. It is the third largest county by area in the state. Somerset is the largest city and the county seat, and there are several other small communities in the county. There are several small parks in Pulaski County, in addition to Lake Cumberland which is nearby, including Pulaski County Park, Shopville Community Park, White Lily Community Park, Firebrook Community Park and Woodstock Community Park. Somerset Community College is located in this county.

Warren County is located in the western part of South Central Kentucky. It is the fifth most populated county in the state, and includes the third largest city in the state, Bowling Green, which is also the county seat. The county is considered part of the Pennyroyal Plateau and Western Coal Fields regions. The northern border of the county is formed by the Green River, and Barren and Gasper Rivers flow through the county; Shanty Hollow Lake is in the northwest corner of Warren County. Other attractions include Beech Bend Park, Riverview at Hobson Grove and Lost River Cave. Areas in the west, south and southwest of the county are flatland with fertile soil that supports tobacco, hay, corn and soybean crop production. Much of the county is rocky and unsuitable for agriculture, though many residents raise livestock or hunt in the rocky areas. Western Kentucky University and Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College are located in the county.

Barren County is located near the center of the South Central region of Kentucky. The largest city is Glasgow which is also the county seat, and it is included in a Combined Statistical area with Bowling Green. The city is named for Glasgow, Scotland, and is celebrated yearly with the Glasgow Highland Games. Barren River Lake is located in the southern part of Barren County, which forms part of its border with Allen County. Barren River Lake State Resort Park is primarily within the county along the shore of Barren River Lake. Part of Mammoth Cave National Park is located in Barren County. The county is fairly rural and agriculture and tourism are the primary industries. Glasgow has some manufacturing facilities and is a medical and retail center for the area. Cave City is a popular resort area for tourists visiting Mammoth Cave National Park, and which contributes greatly to the county's economy.
