Coastal Region, MS
Based on recent LandWatch data, the Coastal region of Mississippi ranks third in the state for its combined amount of land currently for sale. Internal data from LandWatch records $1 billion of land and ranches for sale in Coastal region, a slight drop compared to last month. With thousands of properties and rural land for sale in the area, these land listings cover a total of 105,315 acres of rural land and property for sale. The average price of land and ranches for sale here is $265,572, which is on par with average prices here last month.

The Coastal region of Mississippi is the area of Southern Mississippi that borders the Gulf of Mexico. The three counties on the gulf are prime spots for vacationers, where visitors can enjoy the beach, watercrafts and delicious seafood. State parks in this area offer opportunities for hiking, biking and horseback riding, and there are several golf courses in the area. With the temperate climate, outdoor activities can be enjoyed year-round. Gulfport and Biloxi are major cities in this area, and also feature an active art and theater scene.

Harrison County is located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and it is the second most populous county in the state, and the second-largest by area. The county is named in honor of U.S. President William Henry Harrison. Biloxi and Gulfport are the county seats. Other larger cities include D'Iberville and Long Beach. Portions of the De Soto National Forest and Gulf Islands National Seashore are also in this county. Being on the shore, the area offers the beach and related activities, casinos, and a variety of shops, restaurants, hotels and resorts.

Hancock County is also located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, and is the southernmost point in Mississippi. It borders Louisiana to the west. It was named for John Hancock, one of the country's founding fathers. Bay St. Louis is the county seat, and other cities are Diamondhead and Waveland. With this county bordering the coast, there are opportunities to enjoy beaches and state parks.

Jackson County borders the Gulf of Mexico to the south and Alabama to the east, and is the fifth most populated county in the state. The county is named in honor of U.S. President Andrew Jackson, but named after him when he was a general in the United States Army. Pascagoula is the largest city and the county seat; other cities include Gautier, Moss Point and Ocean Springs. A Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge is in this county, as well as portions of the De Soto National Forest, Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Gulf Islands National Seashore.
