Pee Dee Region, SC

Based on recent LandWatch data, South Carolina's Pee Dee region ranks second in the state for its combined amount of land currently for sale. Recent internal data lists $2 billion of land for sale in Pee Dee region, a slight drop compared to last month. With thousands of properties and rural land for sale in the area, these land listings comprise some 91,783 acres of land and other rural acreage for sale in the region. The average price of land and ranches for sale here is $280,391, which is on par with average prices here last month.

The Pee Dee Region of South Carolina is the area of the lower watershed of the Pee Dee River, named after the Pee Dee Native American tribe. It is located in the northeastern corner of the state. It includes the "Grand Strand, " a long stretch of beaches running from the North Carolina border to Winyah Bay in Georgetown County. One of its most famous beaches is Myrtle Beach. On the coast, the region is a prime tourist destination with beach resorts, amusement parks, fishing and golf. It is also a popular retirement location for Americans, due to its low cost of living and many golf courses. Inland it also features rivers, marshes, bays and sandy rises. Further inland, is a rich agricultural area of tobacco, cotton, soybeans and produce. The largest city is Florence, at the center of the region, and Myrtle Beach is also a large city in the region

Horry County is the fifth most populated county in South Carolina. The largest city is Myrtle Beach, with other large cities being North Myrtle Beach and Conway, the county seat. The county's geography is varied, with areas of rivers, beaches, forest and swamps. Horry County is bordered to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, with the Little Pee Dee River and the Lumber River to the west, and North Carolina to the north.

Georgetown County's largest city is Georgetown, a small historic city which is the third oldest city in South Carolina. It is also the second largest seaport in the state. There are several rivers in Georgetown County, including the Great Pee Dee River, Black River, Sampit River, which all flow into Winyah Bay. The Santee River forms the southern boundary of the county and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The county includes several beach communities along the "Grand Strand, " the long stretch of beaches along the coast. Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge is in this county, and upland areas are excellent for agriculture.

Sumter County's largest city is Sumter, which is also the county seat. There is a large U.S. military base in the county, and several military branches are headquartered there. The county contains the Black River and its tributaries, and the western border is formed by the Wateree River. The High Hills of Santee comprises the western part of the county, and and is one of the more famous landmarks. The county also borders Lake Marion. Swan Lake Iris Gardens and Manchester State Forest are also attractions for visitors to the county.
