Forest Oaks has been a cherished landmark in Rockbridge County for more than two centuries. Built in 1806 by Matthew Houston, a cousin of Sam Houston, this remarkable estate holds a prominent place in local and regional history. Built along the original US Route 11, Forest Oaks has served as a stagecoach stop, tavern, family home and most recently as a popular B&B. Lovingly restored by its current owners, Forest Oaks offers a glimpse of a bygone era with its soaring entry hall, stunning woodwork and breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to the Forest Oaks Manor House, the estate includes three fully restored historic cottages.
