The 21 year old pine plantation is estimated at 142 acres of the property. The north and south portions have been thinned within the past three years and are now well-stocked maturing pine stands. The Windmill Farms pine stand has an average of 199 trees per acre with an average basal area of 102 square feet. The pine plantation has very little hardwood competition, and with almost 50 tons per acre of pine averaging 10” in diameter, is set to grow very well into a nice pine sawtimber stand.
The Windmill Farms Tract has about 21 acres of stream buffers that stretch along the creeks through the center of the tract. Of this buffer, 6 acres contained a stand of hardwood which was estimated to have about 185 tons of hardwood pulpwood. The other areas along this buffer contained some areas of open flooded ground which may offer potential waterfowl hunting and areas of hardwood brush which offer great bedding habitat for many wildlife species.
