Mid River has a main lodge as well as 2 separate additional living quarters. The lodge is primarily used for living, entertaining, and guest accommodation and has 4 bedrooms, kitchen and a large entertaining area with a large classic brick fireplace. Two additional living accommodations are located within easy walking distance of the lodge. An Owners’ cabin has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and kitchen and a smaller cabin features a 1 bedroom / 1 bath layout. All 3 structures feature metal roofs and wood floors and are offered furnished.
Adjacent to the cabins and lodge is the entertaining space, which is a family favorite featuring a commercial kitchen and cook out area, picnic tables, concrete floor and TV that is heated and cooled and includes a great view of the lake making it a classic gathering and entertaining space for football and parties.
With the exception of the original lodge, constructed by the previous owner, Roy Boyd of Brunswick, all of the improvements, including the expansion of the lodge, have been constructed in the last 5 years. The cabins and lodge overlook the fishing pond that has an elevated stand and trap house for skeet.
Multiple barns, including a concrete floor metal barn for equipment, tools and UTVs, a wood frame 2-stall horse barn along with separate walk-in cooler for hanging game make operation of the farm simple and easy.
Land
A quick inspection of the LandID property map gives you a snapshot of all the work and expertise that has gone into transforming Mid River Bluff into a first class hunting operation. It takes years of experience to understand how to develop a property for hunting and Mid River has had the benefit of a great manager to oversee the work. Expertly placed food plots, stands, feeders, site lanes, roads and trails allow access to all of the farm without disturbing the game with opportunities to enjoy the many different landscapes and habitat types that are a huge piece of the benefit to owning a river front tract along the Satilla. Uncommon and sudden elevation changes, river bottoms and blackjack / turkey oak ridges make a beautiful and changing landscape full of game that is cherished by so many families in this area who have owned land here for generations. The farm straddles both sides of paved Hwy 252, all of the improvements and approximately 480 acres lie on the river side of 252 and 140 acres lies on the east side. The east side has a large dove field that also contains a pheasant tower for tower shoots and a floodable duck pond with electric well. Both sides have numerous feeders, stands and food plots marked on the map. A variety of timber types exist including upland hardwoods, river bottom, natural and planted pine all connected by an outstanding road system. The Satilla River as well as large adjoining landowners make it easy for game to move throughout the area.
Location
Woodbine is a thriving and charming town along the banks of the Satilla River located at exit 14 in Georgia, just north of the Florida line. Just upriver from Woodbine, lies Burnt Fort, the location of an old Mercantile Store and River Landing where Hwy 252 crosses the Satilla, where steamboats and river barges used to trade and unload their cargo. The Burnt Fort Outpost connected all areas inland along the River to the coast and the town of Woodbine for commerce and many notable current families, like the Varns, Hopkins, Proctors and McCarthy / Russell families purchased land and owned businesses there, primarily in timber and turpentine along with some rice farming and still own large landholdings here today. However, the Buie family owned much of the land at Burnt Fort and the ownership of Mid River Bluff dates back to their original holdings.
Collectively the area west of I-95 at Woodbine between the Satilla River and the interstate, is largely privately held, highly unusual for coastal Georgia which is dominated by large timber company holdings, and represents some of the very best hunting and recreational opportunities available in the southeast. Turkeys thrive in the longleaf and blackjack / turkey oak ridges adjoining the river bottoms of the Satilla River as well as quality deer hunting, woodducks and wild hogs. Mid River Bluff represents a very manageable and diverse cross section of this highly desirable landscape, offered turnkey for recreation and family enjoyment.
