The Nerlin Family Farm was started in 1924 when Andy Norman Nerlin purchased 200 acres of farm and grazing land after he came home from the army at the end of world war one. The property was located just a short distance up Elbow Creek from where his farther Andy homesteaded in 1893. A portion of that property had been donated for a site for the Elbow School house, which remains to this day. The school house later became the home for the family in 1959.
Andy moved into the log house on the property with his new wife Flo, a school teacher from Fromberg. Andy and Flo farmed and raised cattle and horses with the farming being done with teams of horses up until the late 1940s. Four of the six Nerlin children were born on that farm.
In 1941 Andy purchased an additional 160 acres that was adjacent to his farm and moved into the frame house located on that property. The remaining two children (twins) were born.
The oldest son, Norman Andy (Junior) remained on the farm working with his father until he purchase the farm in 1975. Junior continued to farm and raise cattle and horses until his recent passing.
