There remains an excellent stand of sugar (hard) maple, soft (red) maple, black cherry, white ash sawtimber, with hemlock, beech, red oak and basswood mixed in. A timber inventory made by FORECON, Inc. in June 2016 shows a current timber volume of about 103,000 boardfeet of timber valued currently at about $48,000.
This is an excellent deer and turkey property for the hunters that want an ownership that can support both hunting and provide some long-term cash flow through timber sales over time. The evidence of deer is everywhere on this property. In addition, the southerly-most 6-8 acres is considered NYS Wetland with Brokenstraw Creek flowing through it. This is a great area for duck and goose hunting and can be hunted from land or with a canoe or kayak. For those not interested in hunting, the species diversity of flora and fauna between the high ground and the wetland is fantastic. Again, canoe or kayak will access the adjacent wetland that leads to Brokenstraw Creek. Brokenstraw is a muti-species fishable creek, sporting bass and northern pike as key fishing options.
