The Crooked Creek Ranch is located in an area of rolling hills and canyons on the eastern slope of The Rim of the Guadalupe Mountains. Prominent features of the ranch are Sargent Canyon and Crooked Canyon. The ranch is well watered and has a good usable headquarters with a very nice up-dated home.

Fencing on the ranch is average for the area with mostly woven wire with the balance being fenced with five strands of barbed wire on a combination of steel and cedar post. Divisions of the ranch include 14 large pastures and 6 traps which are watered by five water wells equipped with submersible electric motors and pumps powered by either electricity, solar power or generator power with extensive pipeline (1 200psi) across the ranch that provide water for the ranch with the owner stating that there are over 40 drinkers with most of the drinkers having storage tanks adjacent to the drinkers. There are two springs on the ranch, one of which has been developed and piped into a storage tank. The other spring has not been developed. Additionally there are three large cement storage tanks and two 1,000 BBL (42 gallons per barrel) and one 500 BBL steel storage tanks. Grasses on the ranch are predominantly Blue, Black and Side Oats Grama.
A very important feature of the ranch is in addition to being a great home for a cow or a combination cows/yearling operation is great hunting on the ranch for Mule Deer, Barbary Sheep, Dove and Quail which are hunted on the ranch and in the area.
Situated on the east side of the ranch is the headquarters consisting of a good set of steel pens with a cattle working chute, a barn/shop, an old school house converted to a tack room, twin overhead cake storage bins, a domestic well (one of the five wells on the ranch) equipped with a submersible electric motor and pump and a concrete storage tank. Also located at the headquarters is a very nice up-dated home which consists of three bedrooms and two baths, a living area with a fireplace, and a combined dining room and kitchen. Surrounding the home is an adobe fence.
The ranch is located approximately 24 miles south of Hope, NM, 80 miles from Roswell and 93 miles from Cloudcroft, NM. The highway from Hope is paved for approximately 18 miles plus an additional 6 miles of all-weather, caliched road to the ranch.
Precipitation maps indicate that the ranch receives an average of 15 to 17 per year with very mild winters.
