Sandy River Tract

Sandy River flows across the back side of this timberland property in a secluded section of western Chester County. The river makes part of the tract’s western boundary and part of the boundary crosses to a short distance on the other side of the river. The land is mostly covered by loblolly pines planted in 2019. These genetically advanced seedlings are well spaced and free to grow with little woody competition on site.

Mature hardwood covers about 57 acres. About 45 acres are in the bottomlands along Sandy River with the balance along other, smaller waterways and in upland patches. These trees vary in age but are generally more than 50 years old. Red and white oaks, yellow poplar, sweetgum, and red maple are common. Cottonwood, black walnut and hackberry are also found in the bottomland.
