The next expected harvest would take place around 2045 -2055, which would be after the plan expires. If the new owners would want to withdraw from MFL then there would be a $300 application fee, along with the withdrawal penalty. The withdrawal penalty is the number of acres in the program (61 Acres) X the number of years in the program which is 14 years, but it is capped at 10 years (10) X the most recent years tax rate for the town of Washburn which is $36.14 for the 2021 tax season. This gives you an idea of about what to expect for the withdrawal penalty, since I do not have the actual number for the 2023 season or the amount that has been paid in for taxes already. The actual amount is determined by DOR and a bill is sent to the new landowner. The same penalty applies if they were to do a small acreage withdrawal (1 – 5 acres) for a building site.
