This property is only a few miles from the historic Fort Lancaster, and contains a portion of the Chihuahua Trail. This trail was followed by the spaniard Gaspar Castano De Sosa in 1590 during an expedition to New Mexico. By 1850, this trail was extended to connect the city of Chihuahua and the Texas Gulf Coast.

Wildlife in the area include but are not limited to whitetail deer, mule deer, wild turkey, javelina, squirrel, bobcat, wild cats, bass, catfish, other various fish, opossum, badger, fox, raccoon, dove, blue and bobwhite quail, as well as a variety of other birds.
