GREAT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS HUNTING LOCATION!
I have been in the land business for a long time now, and every now and then I tour a property that really gets my attention. Located in Fayette County IL, lies 451+/- ac that is loaded with deer, ducks and turkey, is one of those farms.
There are areas along the Kaskaskia River that consistently produce solid harvest numbers of ducks and geese, and this farm has done that for years. Two large, well built and placed pits/blinds are located in different water holes, and are far enough apart where you are competing with one another when birds get close. Millet is often broadcast in the hunting areas to help lure the birds within range. Mallards are the fowl of choice, and the snow goose hunting in the spring is nothing short of world class. The hunting areas are pumped by a state of the art pumping system, with the water coming straight out of the Kaskaskia.

The deer habitat found on this property is excellent, with bedding cover in abundance. There are hundreds of mast producing oaks that should consistently provide food for the wildlife found here. The rich soil makes for ideal food plots, with hearty turnips, radishes and oats, and are perfect ambush spots for southern IL bruiser bucks. Access to stand sites are perfect, with entry points on the north and south side of the property. Leading to and from these sites you will travel on well-maintained roads so one can go un-detected by even the most wary whitetail.
My experience has taught me to know average hunting farms from good ones, and good ones from great ones! This southern IL farm fits in the latter!
