There are many springs that can be found on the ranch including one spring that bears around 90 gallons per minute. A fishing pond is located up the Murphy Creek drainage that has held large trout in the past. Other small spring fed and “catch” ponds can be found located around the ranch.
Crops and Irrigation: There are approximately 80 acres irrigated with great water rights
out of Fox Creek. They are the oldest and first water rights on Fox Creek. These acres are currently in alfalfa and White Clover. A newer 60 acre seeding of dry land alfalfa/grass/ and clover was seeded in the spring of 2007 and should be realized when it starts to grow in 2008. Triticale and Wheat have been planted in other fields for rotation of crops. Bulls in the 360-370 class range and bucks from 180-200 are not uncommon to see on the ranch. Many times there have been in excess of 400 elk at one time during seasons. Not only crops keep these elk and deer here but good stands of cover in the form of thick trees and brush along the creeks. There are many other forms of wildlife including turkeys, coyotes, bobcats, cougars, grouse, quail, and bear. The county that this ranch is located in puts more bulls and bucks into Boone and Crocket than any other county in Oregon.
USFS: There is approximately 3000 square miles of National Forest that is adjacent to the ranch. This is a huge opportunity for recreation out your back door. Four wheeling, snowmobiling, hiking, camping, fishing mountain lakes, and anything else you can think of is available. This ranch also provides a haven for the elk and deer as soon as hunting season starts. The proximity and topography allow the elk and deer to “funnel” into this property.
