This property is located between Prairie City, Oregon and John Day, Oregon on Indian Creek. It has 166.45 acres with 3 pivots servicing the irrigated acres. There is also additional water from the ditch that can be used in place of or to supplement the pivot water. Last year they took 400 tons of meadow hay off of it. This small ranch can be utilized in a variety of ways. You can take hay off of it or use part of the irrigated land for pasture and graze cattle on it all summer. This is in a mild weather area that gets about 12-16 of rainfall per year with a minimal amount of snowfall. The ranch itself has beautiful views of the Strawberry Mountains and the John Day Valley. The area is known for its excellent weather in both the summer and the winter. The average temperature for Prairie City in the summer is 83 degrees and in the winter it is 36 degrees. For John Day the summer temperature is 87 degrees and the winter it is 41 degrees. The ranch is located between the two cities. John Day has a new state of the art hospital with helicopter service to Bend. Grant County is a conservative county with a county government that is not in an adversarial position with the community. (Amazing!) Really it is a great place to live with only about 7,000 population.
This small ranch is well kept up and in one piece. You dont have to trail cows or run down the road to do your hay. Great county, great people, and super weather. Its tough to beat.
