Plum Hollow Ranch
160 +/- Acres
Hardeman County, Texas
This diverse hunting tract is located in the rolling hills of northeast Hardeman County, just a few miles south of the Red River. The land offers a variety of native browse, trees, brush, and cultivation, providing the nutrition needed to attract and sustain trophy bucks. It joins a 2000 acre ranch on two sides and has easy access off of the county maintained Taylor Rd.
The ranch is divided down its middle by a long shelterbelt of 50' hardwoods, which provide protected bedding areas for whitetails and roosts for turkeys. South of the shelterbelt is a 60 acre field, and on the north side, a 28 acre field. Both of these fields have been kept in winter wheat, but could just as easily grow alfalfa, milo, sunflowers, oats, or wildlife specfic grasses, such as bundleflower and bluestem. The south field has a couple of tree breaks in its middle, which provide good locations for setting up tower stands. The north field winds around dense plum thickets and groves of chinaberries and has several niches ideal for installing wildlife food plots.
The north side of the ranch has very good cover, with a hilly terrain, several draws, and lots of brush. In addition to deer and turkey, the property supports several coveys of bobwhite quail. Wild pig, coyote, and bobcat will be found traveling across it as well, and there is good dove hunting in the Fall. A monster buck scoring 162 was taken off of it a couple of years ago (see picture of mounted deer); several other nice trophies have been seen on the ranch and in the surrounding area as well.
Improvements include an excellent five-line, barbed wire perimeter fence and water well in the southwest corner. A utility meter is already in place too.
Asking Price: $1250/acre
