This property consists of 1726.36 acres situated in Harney County Or. It is within a few miles of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge where hundreds of thousands of wildfowl make their home. This was a hay/grain/cattle ranch for years. It was then put into the Wetland Reserve Program in conjunction with Ducks Unlimited. They have spent an unbelievable amount of money in putting in canals, weir boxes, dikes, nesting areas, and sanctuaries for the waterfowl and upland birds that nest here. This has paid off resulting in large amounts of both types of birds nesting and feeding here. I have hunted here and it is truly fantastic with large areas for many hunters to be here at one time hunting. The land is flat with mountains and hills surrounding it. You can see the birds coming from a great distance and it is extremely gratifying to call and watch them come in from so great a distance. The Silvies River supplies water to it. The WRP continues to work with the landowner and give direction to new developments as they come up. Some cattle grazing is allowed depending on the weather conditions and the amount of water coming in. You can hunt this ranch, sell it, work on it but you will be in contact with the WRP to deal with grazing, haying or altering what they or DU has done.
