In addition to the canyon being a sanctuary for wild life it is a major historical library with Indian artifacts, petroglyphs, an old outlaw cabin, camping, general day trips, and exploring. The Cucharas Canyon Ranch has ben well maintained and managed. This livestock ranch has fences to be proud of and a water system that has been statically developed to maximize grazing. The water system consists of wells connected to a water storage tank and a pipeline delivering water to drinking tanks throughout the ranch. In addition, there are several dirt tanks, springs, and of course the Cucharas River in the Canyon bottom. Management has controlled the cattle numbers in a manner as not to over graze in any year and maintain the sod cover for the future. See Brochure for details.
