The current owners have created a series of trails that cut along the tops of the ridges connecting six food plots that they created. Various sizes, configurations and types of plots were created with some being large and open while others were smaller with mature oaks left scattered within them. These setups allow you to pick the setting you want based on whether you are bow hunting or rifle hunting. The trails connect to food plots west of the creek from two points to give you options depending on the wind direction. In addition, the they make it fun to sneak from plot to plot and have been planted to attract wildlife to increase your odds of seeing deer anywhere throughout the property. They also cut across Dark Hollow Creek and then run north to the far end of the property. In addition to creating good access to the food plots, they also provide a great way to look through the open woods on the property. The upland areas are a mixture of mature cedars and post oaks while the creek bottoms feature large red oaks, sycamores and birch trees. Feeders in the food plots provide supplemental nutrition. The combination of numerous draws, creek bottom oaks, food plots and feeders work together to create an ideal smaller hunting property. Another unusual aspect to the property is that it hunts larger than it is because its L-shape yields a full 1.25 miles of hunting possibilities.

The presence of birch trees along the edge of Dark Hollow Creek indicates that even if the creek doesn’t flow constantly, the creek bottoms hold sufficient moisture to keep these water-loving trees alive. We looked at the topography and found a spot to build a four-acre lake that would round out the property by providing a great fishing and swimming spot in addition to an all-weather crossing of the creek that would make accessing the east side easier during wet weather. In addition, the large boulders and rock ledges along the creek will be a ton of fun for the kids in your life to explore.

We were provided with a very nice set of trail camera photos showing a nice set of younger bucks that are well on their way to being shooters. In addition, a group of does are also hitting the food plots. There are several locations along the creek where large trees have limbs that extend across the creek creating ideal wild turkey roost locations. The presence of turkeys on the food plots leads us to believe that they are likely to roost along the creek and then routinely work their way up to the feeders and food plots.
