This 2,372 acre Cappell Creek Timber Tract is located in northeastern Humboldt County, along the north side of Klamath River drainage, twelve miles northwest of the Klamath River community of Weitchpec. The Yurok Tribe is in the process of a two phase acquisition of 55,000 acres from Green Diamond Resource Company, including lands adjacent to Cappell Creek Timber Tract.
This contiguous block of timberland has an estimated 17,869 MBF of primarily 30 to 40 year old Douglas-fir. The slopes are moderate to steep south and north facing in the western and northwestern sections of the tract, and moderate to steep along Cappell Creek in the western and northwestern sections of the tract, and moderate to steep along Mareep Creek in the southeastern section.

The property has a deeded easement from Cappell Road to the eastern boundary, with a well-developed internal logging road system that includes a steel railroad bridge over Cappell Creek.
Timber Harvest Plan 1-03-024 HUM covers 150 acres and has been extended until February 2012, which allows a new owner to harvest up to an additional 1,000 MBF based on current regulations. A total of 3,461 MBF have been harvested since 2004.
Log markets are located north to sawmills in Brookings and Cave Junction, Oregon and south to sawmills in Arcata-Eureka and Weaverville, California.

DIRECTIONS: From Eureka, take Highway 101 North to Highway 299. Proceed east on Highway 299 to Willow Creek/Highway 96. Head north on Highway 96 to Wietchpec and then left after crossing the bridge onto CA 169/Martins Ferry Road. Take CA 169/Martins Ferry Road 9.9 miles to Cappell Road. Follow Cappell Road to right-of-way to the property.
Please note: Cappell Road meets 169 in tow places. Use the second (west end) Cappell Road due to a washout on Cappell Road, east of the right-of-way to the property. Do not use Gibbens Road or Ramstead Road to access the property.
