There are some properties that are so unique, so beautiful and so incomparable that they are almost impossible to describe. Such is the case with Trails Crossing. Located only 10 minutes west of Hwy 7 is this unique estate that almost defies description. I’m going to do my best by giving you first a picture of the grounds they occupy. Imagine a secluded Tuscan country estate. You start with a elegant entrance to the property marked by stone and pavers down a winding road that takes you through virgin woods across the carefully manicured dam of the lake that is a focal point of the property. As you drive in you notice the tasteful statuary that gives this property such a unique flavor.
Then as you cross the lake dam the house itself comes into view. Off to the right of the house you see the location of the pool and pool house. The exquisite reverse 1/1/2 story house itself is built of...
Then as you cross the lake dam the house itself comes into view. Off to the right of the house you see the location of the pool and pool house. The exquisite reverse 1/1/2 story house itself is built of carefully crafted native stone in the front, which belies the immense back portico and courtyard that look to the western lawn and mature trees. The impression you get when you enter the house is that you’ve stepped back in time to a Tuscan country home.
Cobblestone floors, stone fireplaces, substantial country furniture all make you think you’ve entered another world, and perhaps you have. All of this is tastefully built into an almost 6,000 square foot home with over 14 rooms, each one more unique than the next. You will find kitchens on both floors including a catering kitchen, new Stainless Steel appliances, Jenair cooktop, granite counter tops not too mention a billiard room. Gracious dining areas, charming breakfast nooks, impressive master suite with unsurpassed view of the Western lawn and Gardens, fireplaces every where you turn, all combine to create that magic that is Trails Crossing.
The views both to the east and the lake, or to the west and the massive west Lawn is framed by the architecture of the house. Towards the lake a courtyard with a fountain surrounded by glass and windows of various foyers makes the lake and its peaceful site soothing for anyone, owner or visitor. But to look East means seeing the statuary, the fountains, the patios, the mature trees, and all the wildlife of the East Lawn. And oh how that view is framed. From the Great hall massive doors lead out onto balconies to allow you take in the view. But the best view may yet be from the Arched windows of the Master Bedroom installed as they are in the large stones that make up the walls of the Master Chamber.
If this fairy tale isn’t complete enough then a step into the princess’ chambers which were the daughters’ rooms will soon complete the experience. Any little girl whether 8 or 80 cannot help but be enchanted by the exquisite feminine décor of this room. But there is more at every turn, at the bottom of the stairs, and from every window. We’ve not even talked about the chandeliers, the many fireplaces, the entertainment areas, and so much more that awaits you at Trails Crossing.
And why the name Trails Crossing? Well as much as you might think you’ve been transported to a European manor house Trails Crossing is uniquely American. Both the Santa Fe and Oregon Trails traversed this area, and historians tell us some of the original ruts can still be seen from the property. There is even located an old Indian burial ground seclude and lovingly taken care of.
The reality is I could type for days and never be able to adequately convey the charm and beauty that is Trails Crossing, I’m not even sure our pictures help too much as it is the totality of the property, and house and grounds that overwhelms the visitor. No Trails Crossing has to be seen to be appreciated. We look forward to showing you this vision on the Prairie.
