A major benefit of hunting the eastern plains deer units is the extremelyliberal season dates! As an example if you're an archery hunter and are fortunate enough to hold a 2014 deer tag for GMU 136 you would be able to hunt Oct 1st - 24th, Nov 5th-30th and Dec 15th-31st giving you plenty of opportunities to bag a huge muley. For you rifle hunters, depending on which season your tag is valid for, you're able to hunt either Oct 25th - Nov 4th or Dec 1st - 14th giving you an exceptional opportunity to harvest a buck.
This property has not been hunted years and while previewing the ranch I found numerous mule deer sheds, elk tracks, bighorn sheep beds, turkey tracksand an unbelievable amount of bear sign! Believe it or not there are huge black bears in this country! These bear tags also qualify as "C" tags and are unlimited! Season dates for bear huntingruns from Sept 2nd - Nov 16th. Other species found on the ranch include gray fox, coyote and mt. lion. We will set up trail cameras later this summer so check back oftento see what animals we capture images of.
