With the amount of BLM federal land that is landlocked at the back of Picketwire Ranch you will have access to many thousands of acres of public land that the public can not access. Trinidad is about 40 minutes away along with many restaurants and facilities such as a hospital and small airport. If you are looking for a place to spend your summers in the mountains this is really great property. The price of admission is very reasonable! Bull elk scoring 350 plus inches are not uncommon in the Trinidad area. The black bear hunting is as good as it gets in Colorado. Bosque Del Oso AKA forest of the bear is but 20 miles as the crow flies and can take as many as 10 or more years to draw a tag. You can buy a black bear tag over the counter in picketwire ranch. Turkeys, bears, mule deer, and elk are numerous in Picketwire Ranch.
Currently there isn't a home owners association. Property owners are the only people maintaining roads in the subdivision at this time. The land is beautiful and there is thick vegetation throughout the ranch. 2 hours from Colorado Springs and about 3 hours from Denver.
