How 'bout....crisp, clean air; vast green forests, wildlife galore, starlit nights & water in every form you can imagine. The Smith Road, a half mile to the west, is the local gateway to the 76,000 acre Independence River State Forest. The trail to Panther Pond, and the river itself begin at the roads end. A short journey to the east lies Stillwater Reservoir and all the splendor of a huge body of water in the western foothills of the Adirondacks . And, just around the corner to the north, follow the Beaver River Flow, a popular destination for anglers, canoeists and whitewater kayakers alike. The traditional 'Adirondack Style' design is found here, in the use of local logs & lumber for the framing, siding and interior design of the cabin. Steel roofs are a necessity in this region to quickly shed snow on the warmer days of winter. Heat is provided by an lp gas stove, a safer adaptation from the original wood burning stove, still found in many similar north country cabins. Electricity, a dug well, and a full bath (with shower stall) are all bonuses compared to many seasonal cabins in this area. The front and side yards have provided previous owners with ample space to grow vegetables and raise small livestock & chickens. And the huge maples surrounding the cabin produce a substance destined to become the amber nectar of the forest, maple syrup. As a seasonal residence there is no need to bring your toys home. There is plenty of room to store them in the spacious 20' x 32' pole barn or 24' x 24' shed. So if you've been looking to lower your degree of stress and enjoy the simpler things in life, you may just find it here in Number Four. There's no cost to check it out!
