Location: The Todd tract is located in central Newton County about 4 miles southeast of Decatur. It is 1 mile east of HWY 503 on Strebeck Road. (Sec. 3,T6N,R12E)
To get to the property, from I-20, take the Hickory exit #115, go north 3.2 miles on hwy 503, turn right (east) on Strebeck road, and go 1.0 miles. The property will be on the left (north).
Access: The tract is located about 100 feet north of a county gravel road. Access is by permanent easement across an adjacent owner.
Topography: mostly level flood plane
Timber: Approximately 40 acres were clear cut in 2004 and then site prepared by aerial spraying with herbicide in fall 2005 and then planted in 2nd generation genetically improved pines in January 2006. Full Description: The Todd tract contains 200 acres of which 40 acres are a 2006 pine plantation, 90 acres of hardwood trees, 70 acres of wetland/ swamp, and 4 acres of power line r-o-w. Okahatta Creek runs through the middle of the property. The tract has good deer and turkey hunting on the upland areas and offers trapping for fur bearers and duck hunting in the wetlands.
