Payette County
Payette County is located in southwest Idaho on the Oregon border. The county was established in 1917, partitioned from Canyon County, and named after the Payette River. It was founded by French-Canadian Franois Payette, who was originally a fur trapper with the North West Company.
As of the 2010 census, the population was 22,623. Payette County is comprised of 3 cities: Payette, Fruitland, and New Plymouth. Payette is the county seat and is the largest of the three cities, with a population of 7,414.
