Our claims are at the base of Diamond Mountain Range which has a long history of good gold production from winter snow thaw causing gold to flow down from the mountain into Indian Creek.

Indian Creek is a tributary and downstream of the Feather River that is famous for gold prospecting. Years ago a fire was in this area, and the area has come back nicely since then.

Plumas County is on the far northern extent of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, and includes several very rich gold deposits. This area was being mined not long after the initial discovery of gold in California. Within a few short years, major mining operations were in place.

There are many large hard rock mines throughout Plumas County, but most of the production from this area has come from the placers. The Feather River is the major drainage that flows through the county, but there are also some ancient river channels, also called Tertiary gold bearing rivers and creeks that were the primary gold producers. Indian Creek is one of those gold bearing creeks.

Now that we have located the claim, you never have to declare to the BLM any gold or gems you find. You can prospect as little or as much as you like.

There was a fire in this area several years ago and the area is coming back nicely.

On our visits to the claim, we gathered in and around the creek, approx. 1/8 of an ounce of gold on the claim, being worth about $225. As the BLM does not specify the amount of gold to be found to locate a claim other than gold needs to be discovered, we use this amount for a 40 acre claim as a projection of good gold potential. Someone with more time may find more. Gold prices are over $1800/ounce. Though we could never guarantee what you will find, we did locate this claim in an historically rich area for gold prospecting.

A transfer of ownership is a sale of legal, exclusive ownership of a mining claim site. To be a legally recorded claim, gold had to be found on the claim, which was completed by us, as we are original claim locators.

Your ownership is legally conveyed via a Quit Claim deed, and legally recorded with the BLM and Plumas County. A Quit Claim deed is the required legal document per the BLM. Each year, on or before September 1st, you need to file a simple form with the Bureau of Land Management, along with $330. By doing this, you keep the claim forever. 2 names needed on your deed. You must be a current US citizen with a US address to own a mining claim in the US. I have paid the $330 fee for this year, not due again until September 1, 2022.

Indian Creek running through the claim is a unique advantage for gold prospecting and prospectors always look for creek bends as on this claim for where the gold accumulates.

Gold always occurs in gravels in the metallic state and when so found has various physical characteristics. Gold is dense and heavy, it has a characteristic metallic color, and it is soft and easily malleable (it is easily formed by hammering). These are the characteristics used by prospectors to identify gold in the field.

Placer gold occurs on the claim as small grains derived from gossan formed by weathering, and oxidation of the gold, copper and iron rich veins. Gold also occurs as grains flakes and small nuggets derived from the erosion of mineralized fault zones on, and upstream from the claim.
