General Operation:
Stellar Creek Ranch has been part of a large family ranching operation that are consolidating their holdings, which presents this opportunity of a lifetime to purchase one of Montanas largest ranches. Present ownership has lightly stocked Stellar Creek Ranch with 2500 home raised yearlings. They normally arrive at the ranch headquarters in late April and are trailed north some 22 miles. This is reputation hard grass country where you can expect 300 pound gains or more. The steers are usually shipped in early October while the bred heifers remain on the ranch till early winter. The ranch is divided into fifteen large pastures with a number of smaller traps and working corrals strategically located throughout. Although the ranch is minimally improved, there is a certified scale located at the headquarters, which is used to weigh yearlings at delivery.
Water Resources:
Water is often the limiting factor in this big open country and Stellar Creek Ranch sells with forty filed water rights. Water resources include several wells, a pipeline with tanks, numerous reservoirs, and Stellar Creek, a year around stream which flows through the ranch for over ten miles. Stellar Creek is fed by flowing wells an artesian well and area landmark that produces three thousand gallons per minute from a six inch casing. The flowing wells water right is owned fifty percent by Stellar Creek Ranch and fifty percent by two neighboring landowners.
Production:
Stellar Creek Ranch is a massive property that covers a distance of twenty two miles from north to south and is eight miles wide at its widest point. The terrain is predominately rolling or flat with very little rough breaks. Stellar Creek is the main feature of the property as it flows south towards the Yellowstone River drainage.
