La Plata, NM has a semi-arid climate with warm summers and mild winters. The average temperature is around 90F in the summer and 35F in the winter months. Rainfall throughout the year averages at 13 inches, primarily during the spring months. Snowfall is relatively minimal, averaging around 12 inches per year. The area experiences plenty of sunshine throughout the year, about 300 days on average.

Characterized by abundant sunshine, low humidity, temperature swings between day and night, and a summer-focused precipitation pattern from thunderstorms. Temperatures vary greatly by elevation and time of year, with hot summers, cold winters. The region receives light precipitation, averaging about 12-16 inches annually, with a distinct peak during the summer months due to thunderstorms

History

The area is rich in history from the Native American tribes to the early Spanish settlers that called the area home. With Aztec Ruins, Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde National Parks just a short driving distance from the property. Chaco Canyon is but an hour’s drive from the property; Mesa Verde is less than an hours’ drive. Aztec Ruins and many other Anasazi sites are nearby.

There are Numerous petroglyphs and ancient ruins dot the landscape in Largo Wash and the numerous finger canyons in the area. This makes this area ideal for the avid or novice explorer.

Durango, CO is less than 45 minutes from the property, with its rich mining history and the Historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
