The Balls Ferry Ranch
The Balls Ferry Ranch is a 66.20 irrigated pasture property located just outside of Anderson in southern Shasta County. The property is used as a summer pasture property with approximately 55.00 acres irrigated with ACID water.The property receives 55 hours worth of water from the district. This equates to three days and two nights worth of constant water.
Recently, the owner of the property has worked with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and installed an irrigation improvement project that helps conserve water and improve the irrigation efficiency of the property. The project entailed converting open irrigation ditches to buried 18" PVC mainlines with 10" risers and 10" irrigation valves. The project also included the installation of cross fencing to help improve the livestock management on the property.
