A Historic Sutton County Ranch

The original Cusenbary Ranch was found in the 1880s by D.B. Cusenbary who moved from Kentucky in 1879 and was a founding father of Sonora. The ranch was originally 20,000 acres. In 1916, the State of Texas purchased more than 3,000 acres to establish the Texas A & M Agriculture Research Station and Rex Cusenbary worked extensively with researchers to develop tools and techniques that still benefit ranchers in the area today. This property is a portion of Rex Cusenbarys ranch, and is one of the last pieces still held by the family since the 1880s.
