34.9 acres of rolling wooded hunting / recreational land located on a paved road about a mile and a half southeast of Caro. The land is a combination of both high and low ground. The front part of the property between the road and the creek, about 6 acres in size, is mostly lower brushy ground with some medium sized trees mixed in. There is a small area out near the road that could be used for a parking spot. A footpath runs from the real estate sign down to the creek. The creek, known as Sucker Creek, winds its way across the entire property from southeast to northwest. Currently there isn't a bridge over the stream, so access to the back half of the property, approximately 28 acres, is by wading across the creek. It's mostly hard bottomed, often gravelly in places and mostly about calf deep in normal conditions. Spring snow melts and or big rains can change that level quickly. Best to ...
Best to be alert to weather conditions. Its also a good idea to bring along some rubber boots. The creek provides a good water source for the wildlife using the property including whitetail deer, wild turkey, and small game. The creek is also a tributary of the Cass River, and it supports a fishable population of bass, pike, and rock bass. Beyond the stream, is a mix of oak, maple, hickory, and a beech tree here and there. A foot path climbs up from the creek bottom following a forested ridgetop. That trail winds it's way thru a tree covered plateau. Eventually ending in an old pasture. Along the west side of the pasture is another hardwood ridge that peers out into a valley of thick softwoods, and brushy low ground that follows along the 1200 or so feet of stream frontage. Trees species included along the creek bottom include elm, ash, oaks, cherry, maple, hemlock and a few wild apple. The property located beyond the stream is very secluded, bounded to the north and east by larger private tracts. A nice place to relax, maybe pitch a tent, gather round a warm fire and enjoy the night sky.
