The Morning Stars features four compounds, each with its own character for living and entertaining,: the Little Diamond Headquarters, the Indian Hill Headquarters, the Airport Headquarters and the McCrea Headquarters. The Little Diamond Headquarters features the recently restored Burgeone Home transplanted from a plantation on the Mississippi River. The original cypress walls and floors came from trees that were estimated to be 200 years old at harvest. The Indian Hills Headquarters features the ranchs newest home. The hilltop location provides a spectacular 360 view that includes Red Bluff Creek. The 3 bedroom/2 bath home, featuring native cedar and native stone and a wraparound porch, was designed with outdoor entertaining in mind. It includes a complete outdoor kitchen complemented by custom grill, an outdoor bar with a big screen tv, a fire ring and a hot tub. The Airport Headquarters is located near the airstrip and the 15,000 square foot hangar. It features four duplexes, able to handle a crowd. The complex includes a large commercial kitchen as well as fully equipped meat processing facility that can accommodate large animals such as elk. The McCrea Headquarters features the former home of Joel McCrea, a star during the golden age of western movies.
Red Bluff Creek, an intermittent creek supplemented by three small springs, meanders through the ranch for several miles. Several Native American cave shelters with paintings are located along the creek. The ranch has 20 water wells and five stock ponds.
In addition, the ranch will be the site of the regions first wind energy and solar energy development. The infrastructure will be installed along the rugged ridgelines, masking the presence of their income-generating power. The Texas Nature Conservancy has also expressed interest in preserving the ranchs unique environment through a conservation easement. While the decision to enact a conservation easement would be completely voluntary, it could provide significant tax benefits.
