Living, dining, kitchen and one bedroom on main floor. Other two bedrooms are upstairs! Home is being sold As-Is and 1yr AHS warranty is being provided for piece of mind. Property history - 2608 N. Stockwell Road (previously Frey Lane) The home was built in the 1880's by Frederick Frey and has been inhabited by him and his descendants since that time. Mr. Frey was a recent immigrant from Germany who received the land much of which was wooded and unsuitable for farming through as a federal land grant program in existence at that time.As a frugal German immigrant, instead of purchasing the lumber to construct his home, Mr. Frey decided to set up his own small saw mill, process the timber he was clearing from his land, and used that to construct the house. The home was originally wood frame construction, and was later covered by the present brick veneer. The present kitchen was not part of the original home, but added later. The well-worn board at the base of the doorway between the kitchen and current dining room is the original threshold to the home. Transom windows remain above the dining room doorways, in the living room, and porch entry. Following Frederick Frey's death in the early 1950's his youngest daughter, who never married, changed the direction of the staircase to the second floor and rented the upstairs and front portion of the house to boarders. Approximately 10 years later she sold the house to her niece Annabelle (Smythe) Thomas and husband Harold who raised their family in the home andcontinued to reside there until their recent passing.
