1 Hall Island , Jonesport, ME 04649(Washington County)

One of a kind island including extraordinary natural resources and two old time fishing camps full of history. Hall Cove is deep, sheltered, and relatively private. The island has several sandy beaches, and a wide unobstructed slipway where the fishermen used to pull their boats out for retarring. (The tar cauldron is still there, behind the East Camp.) The West Camp wharf almost always has at least a few inches of water even at dead low tide, and the Main Wharf was where the sailbooat was ground out every spring. There is a place holder there so the wharf can be rebuilt. The island is a microcosmic environment with hills and valleys, marshes and meadows, with a variety of vegetation including many birches, alders, blueberries and cranberries, mosses and wild irises, as well as the ubiquitous evergreens. There are mossy paths and sunny clearings throughout the island, that have been maintained and improved over the years. It's a truly magical place!
