The Washington Cascades are part of the Cascade Mountain Range which extends from British Columbia to California. This region, located in the center of the state, offers hundreds of miles of hiking, skiing and snow- shoeing trails, and opportunities for camping, backpacking and mountain climbing.

Klickitat County features not only the Cascade Mountains, but also the Columbia River. Though the area is largely rural, one of the larger towns in the area is Goldendale, which is also the county seat. White Salmon is also a larger town in Klickitat County. The county's economic bases are sheep and cattle raising, wheat, orchards, timber and aluminum.

Chelan Country is the third largest county in the state of Washington by area. Geographically, in addition to the Cascade Mountains, it features the Chelan River, Columbia River, Lake Chelan and Bonanza Peak, the highest point in the county. The largest city in the county is Wenatachee. Okanogan County borders Canada, and the largest city is Omak. In addition to the Cascade Mountains and Columbia River, the county also features the Okanogan River, Beaner Lake and North Gardner Mountain, the highest point in Okanogan County.
