In the heart of the historical, prosperous and growing town of St. Francisville La. carved into the rolling hills of West Feliciana Parish you will find the inspirational Imaharas Botanical Garden. Developed by Mr. Walter Imahara to represent his love for family and his respect of his American and Japanese Heritage, the gardens have come to be a must see for all visitors to West Feliciana, and the Mississippi River boat tours that make St. Francisville one of their premier port of calls. Those who wander past the gates of this enormous botanical garden are first guided to a room that features a wall filled with Japanese haiku poems carved onto cypress blocks by Walters father, James Imahara There is a 30 x 50 building currently used for group gatherings to view the largest wood carvings of Haiku collection in America. Guests are encouraged to view the family albums on display before they proceed to the botanical garden. Theres a reason why the Imahara family history room is the first stop on the garden tour: One would not exist without the other the buildings are an extension of the garden with potential as a church, temple, gift shop, restaurant, wedding and events center or even a funeral home frankly the possibilities are endless!
A top the gardens is a premier home sight offering spectacular views of the ten cascading reflecting ponds that are surrounded by 100s of mult-colored crepe myrtles, Redwood trees, Magnolias, Hollies, Palms, Maples and hundreds of Azaleas, all adding to the natural beauty of the rolling hills and surviving trees. What a place to call home!
Mr. Imaharas vast experience in gardening culminated in the St. Francisville garden whereby he accomplished in making the gardens maintenance so minimal it is astounding. With onsite water wells, timed sprinklers systems, fountains, strategically placed trees and ornamentals the entire 50 acres is maintained by just one experienced employee and Mr. Imahara. Graciously Mr. Imahara is offering to continue as curator of the gardens to assist you, the new owner.
