As a top sporting destination, outdoorsmen from all over the U.S. have come to La Perla Viejo Ranch to enjoy its unique opportunities to hunt deer, quail, waterfowl, varmints, and to fish in its incredible 30 acre lake. The ranch has been intensely managed since 2005, with a major focus on archery hunting. It was the first ranch in Texas to use the boulder blind, a unique in-ground blind that puts trophy whitetail deer consistently closer for archery hunting. There are five of these blinds on the ranch, along with four rifle tower blinds, and a series of five hog proof feed stations. Each feed station is equipped with both corn and protein feeders. An extensive system of roads and wide "senderos" makes every corner of this ranch accessible.

Water: The ranch has no shortage of water and its three tanks stay full year round. An eight inch pipe feeds the largest of the tanks and a two inch pipe fills the other two. The water is drawn directly off the Rio Grande River via a pump that fills the tanks at a rate of 500GPM. Along with the tanks, the property also installed three water troughs that hold water year round.

Improvements: The headquarters compound is centered around a 2010 three bed/two bath Palm Harbor home. The home sits on a concrete slab, covered by a metal roof. A jacuzzi sits on the huge patio overlooking the eight foot African fire pit and main lake. A screened in outdoor kitchen sits between the main house and bunk-room, which has its own full bath, and can sleep up to seven people. The connecting drive through barn serves as additional storage for both equipment and vehicles. There is also a newer walk-in cooler and deer cleaning station as part of the facility. Electricity is sourced by Medina Electric Cooperative. All water is treated by a reverse osmosis system.

Wildlife: The ranch offers an unparalleled combination of big game and waterfowl hunting as well as trophy bass fishing. The deer herd has been intensely managed and under high fence for ten years. These management practices have produced multiple Pope and Young quality whitetail over the past several years. Recent surveys have shown a 1 to 1.5 buck to doe ratio, which is a representation of the handwork that has been put into managing this herd. There is a flourishing population of both Bobwhite and Blue quail on the ranch. This population is roughly 75% Blues and 25% Bobwhites. The multitude of tanks on this property serve as a wintering destination for numerous species of ducks and geese. The main lake is stocked with a combination of F-1 Florida bass and bass taken from nearby Falcon Lake, and has consistently produced bass over 8 pounds, with some as large as 10 pounds!
