The main house was built in 1912 the same year that the mighty Titanic sunk. After it was built, it was lived in by the McDonald family out of Santo, Texas and was known at that time as The McDonald Mansion. It was then left abandoned some years later. 25 years afterward, the current owner rescued the home and had it moved to its current location where it has been given the utmost TLC. Kept mostly in its original state, this home surely radiates nostalgia from every crack and crevice! The wood slat walls and the hardwood floors will surely bring back memories to some and create memories for young and old alike. After entering the home via a large wrap around front porch then entering in the front door, instant character radiates. Also it would be a perfect setting for having hordeuvers and beverages before and after a wedding, gala, business meeting, family gathering, etc. There are so many possibilities!

Located near the main house is a detatched guest house that was also moved onto the premisis. It is a one-room building with an add-on that has been made into a guest house with a private bathroom! Just like the main house, the guest house also radiates early history and features wood flooring. As stated before, this charming guest house could be a private residence for a bed & breakfast guest room!

Located to the south of the main house and adjacent to the Paluxy River is a project in action. Its a log cabin that was built in circa 1880. Again, the current owner had it moved onto the property and is in the process of restoring it back to life. The cabin contains one room with an upstairs loft. It also has a wood burning fireplace. There is a covered porch on the front and the back of the cabin, complete with a concrete floor. The back of the cabin features a retaining wall/overlook combination, creatively built onto the side of the Paluxy River. Sitting on this concrete overlook patio brings peace and serenity. Built into the retaining wall, are rock stair steps that lead down to the Paluxy River. Again, think bed and breakfast room or attraction building for your wedding/events/meetings, etc.

This property also has an old, functioning barn with a drive through alley, a hay room, and a loft. Situated on the far side of the barn is a fenced in garden area that looks like something out of a 1930s movie! It provides attraction as well as a functioning place to plant a vegetable garden. The Property

Containing 15.790 acres, this property is located in the bend of the Paluxy River, just north of the town of Bluff Dale, Texas. The southern end of the property borders the railroad tracks; the southeastern side borders Holt Street, a gravel road; the southwestern side borders a neighboring tract of land; and the remainder of the property borders the Paluxy River. Approximatley of the property is in a lush coastal field. This would provide the perfect setting to set up a wedding/event tent and provide ample room for parking. The remainder of the property is shaded with majestic oaks and other hardwood trees, native to the area. Unfortunately, about half of the property lies in Flood Hazard Zone A, being in the 100 year floodway as described by FEMA map 48143C0325D, effective 11-16-2011. To the current owners knowledge, the river has flooded after a heavy rain but it has never gotten near the house. On a bright note, the photo showing the man holding the huge catfish was caught right out of the river!

Area Demographics

This property is located in the far eastern part of Erath County, Texas and just north of the Town of Bluff Dale. It lies mid-way between two large metro areas of Stephenville & Granbury. Granburys population was 7,978 as of the 2010 census. Granbury is the county seat of Hood County and is located just one hour from downtown Fort Worth, making it a reasonable commute to the metroplex. Stephenville is located just an hour and fifteen minutes from Fort Worth. Stephenville, Texas is the county seat of Erath County. Stephenville is home to Tarleton State University, which has an enrollment of more than 7,800 and a full time faculty and staff of 1,100. Six major manufacturing firms employ 1,400 people in Stephenville. The towns major industry is agriculture, with approximately $200 million added to the economy yearly. Of that amount, dairy farming leads the way with approximately $140 million in revenue. According to the 2010 census, the county population was 37,890 and the city population was 17,123.
