Both units offer over-the-counter elk licenses for second and third rifle seasons, with draw-only tags for archery and muzzleloader hunts. These units are known for healthy elk herds and good hunter success rates, especially in backcountry areas accessed on horseback. Mule deer hunting is available through limited draw tags, with solid buck quality and productive terrain in higher elevations and transitional zones. The area is also prime Shiras moose habitat, with high success rates and draw-only opportunities in lush willow basins and alpine valleys.
