The Mission Valley is located within the exterior boundaries of Flathead Indian Reservation. Tribal population approximately 6000, non-tribal 23,000. The Flathead Reservation was opened to homesteaders in 1940 & is home to ranchers, businesss, Native Americans & more. The Mission Valley is surrounded by the towering Mission Mountains and home to the famous Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi! The Mission Valley has a wonderful Rocky Mountain country setting with amazing views of Mission Mountains & valley sunsets. Also home to the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas! Wildlife frequently seen in the area includes: deer, pheasant, grizzly & black bear, elk, coyote, fox, wolf, MT lion, buffalo, MT sheep, MT goat, & more. A wonderful mix of diverse cultures can be found in the valley.
