Old growth Ponderosa, Aspens, Spruce, mountain scrub, and natural grasses can be found throughout its borders. Elevations of the ranch range from 8400 to 8700. The ranch is positioned on the plateau between Ridgway, Colorado, and Norwood, Colorado. The area is vast and mostly untouched giving way to great opportunities for hunting and grazing. Mckenzie Creek and Dripping Vat Creek run through the ranch giving excellent water supply for ponds, wildlife, and livestock. The ranch is completely fenced, and a set of corrals is already in place. The ranch is accessible year-round and is not under a conservation easement. The ranch has a nice road system in place to get around the ranchs spectacular acreage.

Mckenzie Creek Ranch is in game management unit 62, which consists of 30% private land ownership and 70% public land ownership. Unit 62 is over-the-counter elk tags and draw for Mule deer. Other species in the unit are pronghorn, black bear, mountain lion, and turkey. The ranch currently qualifies and is enrolled in the landowner preference program.
Located approximately 12 miles from the town of Ridgway and 22 miles from Montrose, each gives you amenities like shopping, restaurants, medical facilities, and entertainment venues. World-class skiing can be had at Telluride Ski Resort, approximately 62 miles from the ranch. Fishing can be found in every direction from the Black Canyon of Gunnison, San Miguel River, Dolores River, Blue Mesa, or Ridgway Reservoirs, just to name a few. Simply put, the ranch is a recreational haven.
