Elk:Unit 441 offers strong elk numbers and consistent success. The cabin sits near summer range in the Routt National Forest, with bulls commonly moving through the property during early seasons. Hunting is productive in the areas around Quaker and Meaden Mountains, where this property is located. Bull quality typically ranges from 270300", with some over 330" taken each year. OTC archery and rifle tags are available, and licenses often span multiple nearby units. Archery tags are valid in units 4 and 5. 1st Rifle is valid in units 3, 4, 5, and 301. 2nd and 3rd Rifle are valid in units 2, 4, 5, 14, 214, and 301. 4th Rifle is valid in unit 4.
Mule Deer:This unit supports a healthy mule deer herd, with bucks over 170" B&C possible. Bucks stay high early in the season and migrate toward the cabin’s elevation as the weather shifts. The rut hits hard in later rifle seasons, especially near Elkhead Creek and Jimmy Dunn Gulch, just a few miles away. Tags for Unit 441 are often valid in Units 4, 14, and 214, offering added flexibility for hunters.
